Heavy floods of Yen Thanh district - Nghe An
One of localities in central Nghe An province, which have suffered badly floods, is Yen Thanh district. Its damages are estimated at VND137 billion.
Heavy rainfall (nearly 500mm) overnight quickly raised water levels in the local rivers and submerged rice and other subsidiary crops, threatening to ruin 70 percent of the summer-autumn crops.
In addition, more than 1,000 head of cattle and poultry were swept away; 33 dams, one pumping station and two schools were damaged.
By September 9, 11 communes in Yen Thanh remained 1-3m under water at some point.
